What is Keyword?

KeywordsWhat are keywords? Why do we need them? Keywords are the words or phrases that people use when searching for information on the internet.

When composing a website or a blog it is important that we list the appropriate keywords in the heading section so that people can easily find us.

If your website does not contain related keywords, surfers will not even know that your website exists. Make sure that the words and phrases that you list are relevant to your article.

The words and phrases should be those that a potential customer would use when searching for information that relates to your area of expertise.

Look at your new website through the eyes of a stranger. What search words or phrases would you use to find this site? Read the text to see if those particular words or phrases are there to be found. If your choice is contained in the headline, you have the best chance of success. If it is in the first chapter or in a sub headline and repeated further down the page, you are still on a winner.

If you can think up two or three more relevant search terms and incorporate them within your text in a natural manner, you are well on the way to creating a profitable website. Make sure that these keywords and phrases are listed in your keyword list in the header of your website. This is where the search engines will be looking.

Not everyone restricts themselves to a single word when making a search. Phrases of two, three or even four words are often used. These generally make for a much more detailed search and only if you have listed these short phrases within your keyword list will your particular website be found.

In order to achieve success your keyword list should contain terms and phrases that are descriptive, related to your content, and which receive a significant amount of searches.

Ideally, you want to find terms and phrases where there is little competition, so you quickly achieve high ranking in the important search engines,

Markets that have thousands of sites, all competing for the same keywords and search terms, make it important that you try to discover one or two words or phrases that few others are listing.

You can bet that every one of the most popular keywords are listed on the vast majority of the websites in your genre. Use them by all means but also list some of the less popular more targeted ones that are aimed at a niche within your site as well. Words that the big boys would not bother with. They are all capable of bringing some traffic to your site.

KeywordSo. How do you discover these more obscure keywords? There are tools on-line that are designed to help you to do just that. I like Keyword tumbler.com You give it a few relevant keywords or phrases and it will come up with loads of different variations. It will list variations that you would never have thought of on your own.

Another one that I like to use is: Digital point. you will find it at. .digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ This is a keyword suggestion tool. - You enter a search phrase to see how often it’s searched for, as well as getting suggestions for alternate (but similar) keywords. It will show you the results of your query determining which phrases are searched for most often.

Overture Keyword Tool is another very useful tool. After entering a keyword or phrase, Overture provides a list of related phrases that have been searched on. It will then provide a count that indicates the number of times the phrase has been searched on. /inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

‘Topword Tool’, will analyze a complete web page and counts keyword occurrences, as well as phrases, equal to or above the number set in the Minimum Occurrences setting. It supplies a list of keywords and phrases which are most likely to achieve the highest rankings on a major search engine.

The tool will also analyze your meta description, keyword and title tags and then, through colour coding, inform you of words and phrases which should be included. The main use for this tool is checking your optimization and tweaking existing web sites to rank well. You will find it at: abakus-internet-marketing.de/tools/topword.html/

There are many other sites that will do a similar job. Most of them equally as well but with a slightly different slant. I am not saying that those that I have mentioned are better in any particular way. They are just the ones that I use on a regular basis. A quick search on Google will bring up quite a long list.

It is no use designing the most attractive website in the world if no one is going to find it or even know it is there. Keywords and phrases are the actual key to a profitable website, make sure that your website is the one that is easiest to find and gets the most hits.

That’s it for now. There is more to building a website than meets the eye. I just hope that I have given you a few useful hints.

10 Confirmed Marketing Tips That Increase Sales

Posted by admin | Posted in keyword search tool | Posted on 28-05-2009

Tip #1: Embark on a careful linking strategy

There are many ways for your company to appear as one of the top ten in a search engine database without having to pay money out of your marketing budget. One easy way is to do some simple research. For example, go to www.google.com and enter in some key words that would bring visitors to your own site. Make a note of the companies that appear in the top ten list to research their linking strategy.

Once you have compiled your Top Ten List, use a free service like www.alexa.com to find out their linking strategy. You can find out who these companies are linking to, who is linking to them, how much traffic they are receiving and related-sites information.

Use this information to craft a reciprocal link proposal. To make it easy for these sites to accept your offer, let them know that you have already added their link to your website and why you have done so. Like any good proposal, the benefits of a reciprocal relationship should be laid out clearly and succinctly.

One of the easiest and fastest ways to build your linking program is to submit your site to directories.

Tip #2: Use Pay-Per-Click Options

If your website isn’t generating a lot of traffic at this point, there are great pay-per-click options available like www.overture.com and Google AdWords. This allows you to reach people when they are actively looking for information online on what you offer. Pay-Per-Click options allow you to only pay when people click on your ad.
Taking the time to craft a carefully worded and very targeted advertisement is critical to your investment dollars in pay-per-click options. You only want to pay for qualified people clicking on your site. If your service is only located in one geographic area, for instance, you will be wasting your marketing budget by not stating this. You do not want people from Manitoba clicking on your ad if you only deliver your service in Nebraska.

Also, you need to use keyword-rich content in all your copy. A great service to use is www.wordtracker.com. Not only will this service give you ideas on key search terms that you may not have thought of, it will tell you how many companies you would be competing with if you use them.

Tip #3: Write & Submit Articles

Your articles must provide value and should be unique. You can submit articles to print magazines, newspapers, ezines, associations, online resources for relevant industries as well as ‘article farms’ like: www.ideamarketers.com, www.ezinearticles.com, www.selfgrowth.com, www.goarticles.com, www.buildyourownbusiness.biz, www.articlefeeder.com.

Ensuring your articles are written in a keyword-rich context will increase your visibility and ranking with the search engines. Use www.wordtracker.com, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal or http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ to find commonly-used search terms.

Tip #4: Start Blogging

While blogging is not usually a get-results-quick method, it is a very effective way to build loyal readership and trust over a period of time

* Focus on the niche market that you are serving and deliver what they want to know about. Don’t make the mistake of trying to cover multiple topics or subjects if the blog is geared to ONE.

Marking Flatform* Let your audience know when to expect an update from you. Frequent posting of valuable information is key to having a high readership, so be prepared to spend a few days each week posting and responding to comments.

* Before you begin marketing your blog, have at least 10-20 posts set up. You don’t want to look like you just started yesterday and people will want to get a flavour of your communication style before they link to you.

* Determine your blogging objective. If it is to drive more traffic to your website, make it easy for people to get there. For example, ‘get some great sales resources here’.

* Measure it’s effectiveness by getting a pre-blogging benchmark of whatever it is you’re using the blog for. If you want to drive more traffic to your business website, know what your stats are before you begin blogging so that you can measure its effectiveness.

* Begin marketing your blog by commenting and linking on other blogs that you respect. When you leave a comment, leave your own blog address. Participate in blogs that your target audience would be interested in. Listing your blog with major indexing sites, directories and search engines will help you get more attention.

* Add links to your site that allow readers to bookmark the post in social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, digg and blogmarks. You can also include a ‘tell-a-friend’ option with your posts that make it easy for people to forward information.

Tip #5: Get Referrals

Valuable content is the only way to get quality referrals and quality leads. Include ‘e-mail a friend’ or ‘tell-a-friend’ invitations with all outgoing correspondence. You can include messages like this in the signatures of e-mails, at the bottom of articles, in newsletters and in your blog.

Because you are close to your genius solution and know all the ins and outs of its application, do not assume that your target market knows what to do with it. Ask for what you want. Spell it out for everyone. If you want referrals, ask for them. Put the referral-generating process at the forefront of your audience’s mind.

Tip #6: Create an Opt-In List

Like all marketing you do, make it easy for your valued customer to do what you want. Create a system that does not require much time or thinking to participate in. People are busy and if a process becomes too long or cumbersome, they’ll be moving onto something else. You can create opt-in lists for your newsletters, regular article features, reports, advice, etc.

Tip #7: Start an Affiliate Program

Affiliate Programs are similar to getting referrals, the difference being that you actually pay commissions from revenue that is generated as a result of a referral. The great thing about Affiliate Programs is that you only pay when you get a sale. There are people who make great livings simply from affiliate commissions. Aligning yourself with some fantastic promoters is a great way to reach thousands upon thousands of people.

Tip #8: Hold Seminars

When marketing your seminar to a targeted audience, try using a real invitation sent in an envelope through the mail. Curiosity usually gets the better of people when they’ve just received an invitation through the mail and they’ll open it to see what’s inside. Your chances of success increase when you use an odd-sized envelope, quality stock and a non-white color. Anything a little different will be sure to pique interest.

The actual invitation should be in a pleasing, easy-to-read font and the wording should certainly highlight WHY the recipient should attend. Clearly outline the benefits of attending your seminar, how they can register and any relevant details about the event. Make it EASY for people to attend. When you tell people exactly what they’re supposed to do, the chances of them doing it increase exponentially!

Tip #9: Distribute Press Releases

Immediately following or even preceding the release of a new product, service or event, have some carefully worded press releases distributed to some RSS Feeds like www.prweb.com.

You can also distribute these releases to associations, forums and user-groups that your target market belongs to. You want to use other people’s networks to gain the most leverage. Identify those groups that your target market would belong to and get their buy-in to inform their members about your new product/service/event.

Tip #10: Conduct a Survey

There is no better way to understand your target market’s desires better than to ask them! Using a well thought out, carefully worded survey with clear objectives will help you get inside the minds of the people you want to convert into paying customers. This information will enable you to present your services in a way that appeal to the real reasons people buy,

Some companies hire a third-party to design and execute the survey, others take care of it in-house. Either way, it would be a good idea to include an incentive for people to take the survey. Offer a discount, a chance to win a prize in a draw, etc. Like every other aspect of increasing your exposure to your target market, make it easy for them to complete and submit the survey.

Google Process Quality Score

0

Posted by admin | Posted in keyword search tool | Posted on 27-05-2009

Google has refined the quality score formula as part of its ongoing process to better match user search queries with more relevant ads. The changes are

1. Quality score will be calculated dynamically
2. Keywords won’t become inactive for search
3. Minimum keyword bid will be replaced by First page bid

Quality score will be calculated dynamically

What can be inferred from the changes is that Google is taking a more granular approach to calculating the quality score. How?

GoogleNick’s ads do better on the broad-matched keyword milk in the United States (where Nick is based) than in Canada. Nick’s ads also perform better on the query milk delivery than on milk, and better on certain search network partners than on others. Instead of one static Quality Score and minimum bid that determines whether the keyword milk is eligible to enter auctions, we will now determine eligibility for each auction dynamically, based on per-query factors such as location and the specific query. For that reason, Nick’s keyword milk will be able to enter auctions more easily when it’s likely to perform better, i.e., in the United States, on the search query milk delivery, and on certain search network sites. (source: google)

From the above example (provided by Google itself), it can be inferred that Google was using a single quality score which is an aggregate score of the ad and the related keyword that triggered the ad for all search queries across all geographic locations targeted by the advertiser.

Google has mentioned clearly that it will use what it calls ‘combined per query factors’ to calculate the Quality score. Combined per query factors are location and the specific query. Hence keywords and ads will be provided a quality score based on their performance geographically.

Keywords won’t become inactive for search
When keyword is not relevant to the ad, to other keywords within the ad group and the landing page, it leads to Google assigning poor quality score and high Minimum cost per click. But Google has made changes to make sure you keyword won’t be inactive. This makes all sense considering how Google uses ‘Combined per query factors’ to calculate quality score.

Example:
Nick advertises for keyword ‘milk’ in US and Canada. His ads perform better in US then Canada. If Google were to go with a single quality score, it will be an aggregate of ad performance across both US and Canada. Since Nick’s ads don’t perform well in Canada, that is going to affect his ad’s overall Quality Score which may even force the keyword milk to become inactive. This could mean Nick may not be able to show his ads in US and maybe loosing potential business.

But now Google will be calculating the quality score of Nick’s ads based on ‘combined per query factors’ which is different for different geographic locations and search queries. Assuming Nick’s ads for the keyword ‘milk’ perform well in US than in Canada, his ads will have a high quality score and show up in the top positions in the US helping him get traffic and business from US.

Since his ads don’t perform well in Canada, his ads may show up in 2 or 3rd page of the search results in Canada. This means, Nick doesn’t have to lose business from a geographic region, because his ads didn’t perform well in a different geographic region. This also means Google shows more relevant ads to its visitors generating more Pay per click ad revenue.
